O Christmas Tree

My Christmas Tree lit up, just pulled it out of the box today. It still needs to be decorated. It’s pink :)  that makes me happy. Well I’m off to see the wonderful Jonatha Brooke in concert, how awesome. She has the most amazing voice!

A Long Road

I finished my novel today, just minutes ago crossed the 50,000 mark and finished NaNoWriMo this year. YAY! Last year I failed miserably so to come back this year and finish is quit an accomplishment for me. Even though I had a rough start when I accidently deleted it a few days in, and had to start over.

Only one more post left to finish the 30 posts in 30 days NaBloPoMo thingy ma jiggy too. Guess I had a little too much time on my hands this November. Ok off to make me some scrambled eggs. I promise there will be some pretty artwork to show in the very near future.

Thoughts

Another photo from the weekend. It was fun to just wander and observe for awhile. Something I hadn’t done in a long time. I do observe things on walks with the dog everyday but we stick to pretty much the same path, so it is almost as if it is memorized. Its not wandering with a camera in hand either, it was fun. I need to find more moments to just wander, even if it is cold and snow outside.

Empty Beaches Signal the Winters Approach

You can bet it doesn’t look this way in the summer. You can only imagine all sorts of people sitting out enjoying the sun and the warmth, swimming, sun tanning, building sand castles. I can see the umbrellas and the footprints all over the beach. Winter and me or well this is late Fall I suppose have always had a love-hate relationship. I love Winter for the quiet it brings, the snow, warm sweaters, and hot cocoa. The shorter days, the bitter cold wind, cloudy skies, and spending too much time indoors are just a few of the things I hate it for. I trudge through it though, one day at a time.

The Past 24 Hours

heart shaped rock on the beach

Yesterday, after visiting the lovely Swirly at her Ordinary Sparkling Moments event at TT Patton. I headed off with my friend to Michigan, where a bunch of our other friends were staying at a friend’s house on the lake. It was such a blur of trip I can barely believe I was there. We just caught the sunset, which was cut short by clouds, still pretty, did not get any photos though.

It was the best night hanging out with my friend, and sledding down a wooden staircase that was sorda covered in snow, in the middle of the night. I only made it down twice the second time completely losing the sled and taking quite a few stairs without one was a bit painful. We tried to fly kites, but there was no wind which is odd when you are on the beach off Lake Michigan. I ran up and down this really long staircase (my legs are hurting today) and we laid in the snow and stared at the beautiful stars for as long as we could stand the cold. We would have made a snowman had the snow been packing snow. It was nice to have some time today to just wander up and down the beach and take photos and enjoy the sound of the waves coming in. Makes me want to live near water…It was a quick get away but exactly what I needed!

Check out some other photos here.

Words

Amazing words that I need to hear at this very moment just keep popping up everywhere. I am so grateful that I have found these amazing peoples blogs, and have gotten to meet a few of them. The world seems just a bit more cozier when we take the time to get to know each other.

sketchbook video

Here is the video I promised yesterday. Took a little longer to make than I thought it would. It is super simple, and short. Not the most interesting video out there on the web, but still I wanted to mark this accomplishment with something special. Sorry the quality is kinda crappy.

Letting Go

Letting Go, originally uploaded by stacy kathryn.

Painted this yesterday with my hands and a brayer. I just got on the ground with two tubes of a paint white and black. I went nuts. I realized it was the first time I had really gotten my hands in the mess and truly painted with my hands. It was a way of letting go for me. I am trying to figure some stuff out lately…like my style, what I want to paint, how I want my paintings to look. I have been sketching like crazy trying to get ideas on the paper, coaxing them out if you will.

I finished my first sketch book ever today. I have a ton of sketch books, mostly half filled, but I finished one today. I started it in January of this year, and more than half of it is sketches from just the past few months. I did a mini sketch-a-thon to finish the last 20 or so pages. I am going to make a video of it tomorrow. Hopefully will be able to get it up here.
