Group Show

Next month I will be taking part in a group show called Play Child Play over at the Effe Leven Gallery in Chicago. I haven’t really talked about it too much here, as I have been really busy trying to get the paintings done for it. Also getting them framed, and all the other little stuff that goes along with getting artwork ready for a show. It is a lot of work. It is almost done though, all that is left is to drop them off. This is one of the paintings I did for that show…

The Unthinkable

So I am working extra hard on my novel, and managed to get way ahead in word count. Yesterday while I was trying to make some invoices and then cleaning up the desktop I somehow trashed my novel. All 6,000 words gone in one quick click of the mouse. I didn’t notice though until hours later when I was all excited about the plot line and where I was headed with this story. Let’s just say I was devastated to realize that it was all gone, and I would have to start over…from scratch. Already five days in I need to make up 8,500 words in one day to catch up. BAH! Well I am off to take a nap and then try to work on getting some word count going again.

At least some good things happened yesterday to make deleting my novel not seem so bad.

Things I’m Grateful For

- warm November days
- sitting outside and reading
- keeping up with my daily word count for my novel
- paintings that just sort of come together
- my new charger for my camera
- short lines at the post office
- spending time with my husband
- the changing of seasons

Up Up and Away

Went to a baby shower yesterday. Lots of people having babies right now, well at least in my little world. Funny how there is a cycle to everything.

Thoughts Over Coffee

Today is not off to a great start, but I am hoping it will still manage to be a great day. My mouse will not work, and I am so ready to trade this computer in for a new one. Soon. I know. I have a ton of backing up of files to do today so hopefully my mouse will be cooperating with me in the very near future. I am off to go test out my printer and how this whole printing on dvds thing will work.

Positives

It has been an interesting week so far, especially on the art front. I started the Artist’s Way program a month ago, and am now going into my fifth week. It hasn’t been until this week that I really want to bail ship. I thought it would be a breeze as I was having no real issues with the tasks. That is a sign of changes, we always resist things when we don’t want change. I am constantly struggling with overcoming my fear of change, it has been something I have dealt with since I was very little.

So today, I decided when I was working in my studio (trying to figure things out) that I should make some positive affirmation pieces. Something fun to make but also with a message. So I pulled out my sketchbook and really quickly wrote down all the positive sayings I could think of. Three stuck out…

All Chived Out

I just spent the past hour fixing most of my archived posts. I noticed that none of the images show up from about September of last year back. So for your viewing pleasure that has been all taken care of. Now you can feel free to peruse the journey of Stacy’s art and how it has evolved into what it is today. I realized looking back at a lot of my older work, that I was really struggling to find my style as well as just made some pretty bad art. It was all part of the process and I am still struggling to get there, to find my place, my voice in this world. Now that all that hard work is done I am going to go eat me some dinner and relax a bit.
