Trying all these new techniques out over the weekend has been a ton of fun. I have all these ideas swirling in my head and can’t wait to find some more time to get back in the studio and create some more thought out illustrations and paintings. Although I am happy with how these experiments have turned out. Some beauty inside all the mess I felt like I was creating.

Trial by error. That is the motto in my studio lately as I try out some mediums I have had around and just never was sure how to apply them. The ideas of how I want to approach my art these days have been flowing in so fast that I hardly have the chance to get them down on paper, let alone find the time to actually try and test them out to see if they are something I want to use. I realized that I have not painted traditionally in well over a year, my work has been consisting of a combination of mono printing, mixed media and digital manipulation. In other words I am trying everything out, and leaving no stone unturned as I try to settle on a process that best suites me. I am getting close though, I can sense it, and feel it with every good and bad piece of work that gets turned out. Trust me there have been many bad experiments, and frustrating hours.

Where is all this going? I am not sure, I am hoping that an answer will present itself when I am ready.

I’m really happy with how this illustration turned out, but before all the pieces came together to make this illo I had a very different vision for what this was suppose to look like. Sometimes I feel with my art that I am just along for the ride, I’m following its lead, and well eventually I end up somewhere completely new with a different perspective. Slowly but surely I am learning to give into the flow and stop fighting for that vision I thought I had, because sometimes a new perspective is what I was looking for all along.
