About two years ago I tried to complete a 100 day challenge for myself. I never completed it, but did get around 23 days in so not a complete waste. I found the post when I was going through my archives and decided I would try to illustrate each phrase on the list. I found out that the list was posted as a Manga Challenge, but i’m not into Manga so illustrations it is. Hopefully some good practice. I am in no way trying to complete these in 100 days but will just randomly pick one and try to complete the list by the end of the year. A reasonable goal.

I just finished number 1 – Introduction. I am testing out some techniques so I actually did the same image four different times in various ways to see what works best for me. I now have it down to two techniques I am currently thinking work for me but those could change. The first image is done very traditionally, just ink and acrylic, I had to slightly adjust the colors in photoshop to get them to look closer to what the original looks like.

The second one is done in a few different parts, then put together digitally. I’m a fan of the first one but I like the control I had over some of the elements in the second one. Guess that just means some more experimenting in necessary. Back to the studio!
