Rejection

Yes that dreaded ‘R’ word! Something we as artists all have to deal with at some time or another. It seems to be a theme lately as I try so very hard to get my art out there in the world. So what makes me bring this up now, it was getting 2 big rejections in the less than 24 hours and then 2 more within the same week, and it has me a bit shaken. Has me questioning EVERYTHING, my world is a bit confusing at this moment. Every time I get a rejection I usually want to give up for about five minutes but manage to bring myself back down to earth. These rejections though have me feeling a bit lost. Although I have been feeling that way for some months now, and it was one of the main reasons for taking the month of June off. I can’t say that I am quite found yet, or even on my way back there.

So how do I deal with rejection, Well if it weren’t for my husband, family and friends that constantly support me and my art I have to say it would have been so very easy to give up years ago. One thing that has greatly helped me though is stepping back and realizing that I am doing ok, and focusing on the successes I have had. Also letting myself just wallow in it for a little bit, I think letting myself be angry, and getting those emotions out allows me to be able to dust myself off and move ahead. Leaving that rejection in the past. It does affect me though, I guess it is just accepting it, and sitting with the feelings for awhile that help me to move forward.

A little note from the universe, if you haven’t found tut yet go check it out!
The baby steps in the beginning of a journey, Stacy, always seem inadequate compared to the brilliance of the dream that inspired them. This is natural. If the dream wasn’t so far “out there” and dazzling, it wouldn’t be worth dreaming! Just don’t be led to think that the physical ground you cover with your baby steps is all that they accomplish. Because for every mortal step you take, another cog in a giant wheel behind the curtains of time and space advances, and with it, 10,000 new possibilities.
